I rode in a 550 with Bob Snodgrass (Brumos) at the wheel around the Daytona road track for about 12 laps at speed. On about lap four out of the Bus Stop he tapped me on the knee, I looked over and he was pointing at the tach, red lined!
Whew! By the way it only had the small wind screen for the driver and I had a helment witout a full face shield ,only sun glasses.

911 Turbo's are great, especially the older 930 models. Brute force and turbo lag combine to make an awesome combination. As for the 944, I wouldn't discount them just yet. Maybe you were in a bad example. I know a lot of 944 owners that would track there car against all comers and do fairly well.

Yes, there are many people who would like to be in your shoes! I've never owned a Porsche, but have driven a couple. Nothing like what has been through that garage, but still fun. First was a 944. Was fun, but only did well on smooth roads. Would never own (buy) that and it lived up to the "poor man's Porsche" saying. 911 Turbo was killer fun!
