This is not Art, It’s a Crime!

The video is a bit old, but I’m just seeing it for the first time so I thought I would share. I’m all for expressing yourself, but why ruin a perfectly good 997 in the process?? Admittedly, the view from inside while the crusher is operating is eye popping (bad pun intended).

If the artist really wanted to express himself, it would have been a lot easier using Photoshop. He could have simply made a Smorsche!

Exhibit 26a is submitted as further proof that most 911 owners don’t have a damned clue how to maintain their cars! :-D

    Andrew,

You know I don’t mind the bashing but others may try to put you into the same compactor as the 997 :-)

This was translated by one of my German racer friends last year when the video first made the rounds. Realize it IS a pre-production/test mule car, so its fate was like going to be the same no matter.

(But personally, it reminded me of the scene in Goldfinger where they crushed the Lincoln and, unrealistically, put it in the bed of the Falcon/Ranchero.)

    So, the translation:

    The train is leaving now.

This pre-series model (“Erlkönig”) will now turn into the sculpture
    called “Compression”.

“…now we could let it down like this…”

With this unhooking it becomes very evident that time passes in only
    one direction, irreversibly.

    [crunch]

    “Good!”

This is obviously a very uncommon tool for use in sculpturing. Or an
    unusual way of creating sculptures.

It is obviously also fascinating to create a sculpture in such a
really short time, one that big, such complex, so strong. So loaded.

The path of all earthly doesn’t mean that something disappears
absolutely, but that it reappears in different function or form, or
at a different place, such as here in the art house in Bregenz. A car
doesn’t just consist of materials like glass and metal, but also of
fluids, oil, fuel, coolant. Window washer detergent.

    @ken,

Appreciate the information. I found the announcers voice to be very somber and appropriate (almost as if he were narrating a funeral). Still, good to know it’s only a test mule. :-)
