Porsche eBay Find of the Month
February 28, 2008
Ok, so we’ve already posted our eBay Find of the Month for February. Truth be told, we never know what we’re going to find or when we are going to find it, so the title is simply a place holder. Anyway, we enjoy spending time on eBay finding rare, odd and one-of-a-kind Porsche objects. If you ever see something you think belongs here be sure to let us know. Today’s find is a little tongue-in-cheek, but you never know, some of you might think it is a must have.
Here’s a mod I bet you haven’t done
For the Porsche owner who has done every possible modification and upgrade available, we present the perfect gift. Tired of that unsightly electronic toll-pass sitting in your window. Don’t like advertising for the toll company or the bank that sponsors it. Here’s your answer.
The Porsche TagSack
This is a soft-sided sack that fits over electronic toll collection tags nationwide. No more need to use glue, velcro or tape to hold your responder to the windshield! You no longer have to hide the Toll Tag in the windshield tint strip (illegal placement), or hold it up as you drive through the toll plaza (illegal use). Use TAGSAK™ to safely position your toll pass without affecting your car’s appearance.
Don’t take our word for it, check out the listing on eBay

Imagine driving Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammett’s Porsche 911 C4 jamming to Metallica on the stereo he paid $20,000 for back in 1990. Kirk’s car stereo was featured in one of the Car and Driver type magazines (I’ve not been able to track down the exact details and Kirk just doesn’t remember.) This collectors dream is a direct descendent of the awe inspiring 959 SUPER CAR……. At least that is what the beginning paragraph of the ebay ad says.
With a starting bid of $35,000 and a buy it now price just shy of $40k, I’m not sure that the Metallica provenance will justify the Turbo price premium (you could easily buy an ‘89 930 Turbo in that price range, not to mention a decent 993 or mid mileage 996) but you never know?? The car is listed as being sold for Tony Smith (Metallica’s former tour manager). There is some documentation with the car and that $20k spent on the stereo in 1990 could easily still be worth $20 or $30 in today’s market. You’ll have to decide for yourself.
