Back in June we introduced you to Porsche Motorsport photographer Frank Kayser when we showed you a video of what goes on behind the scenes in a Porsche Motorsport photo shoot. Today we have a video meant as a promotional tool for Frank to his clients, but actually provides a compressed and succinct look at Porsche’s participation in the 2011 Nürburgring 24 Hour race. One Day Left to Vote for Your Favorite Porsche ‘EveryDay’ Video

Porsche launched a national contest called “My Daily Magic” in conjunction with their current “Engineered for Magic. Every day” campaign. The idea was to incorporate a film making project into the larger campaign that works to challenge perceptions that Porsche sports cars should be (or can be) used only for Sunday drives and special occasion trips.

Public voting for the amateur filmmakers competition on September 12, 2011 and closes tomorrow on September 21st. If you haven’t already done so, take a minute to view the 10 finalist videos (culled from 100s of submissions) on the MyDailyMagic website. While your vote is only part of the equation (in other words Porsche still gets a say in things) you can influence the decision.

Grand Prize

One lucky film will be selected as the Grand Prize winner. The producer of the winning film receives:

Exposure of their Finalist Film on ReelzChannel and theaters nationwide
1 year Porsche lease (maximum value $18,000) or $18,000 cash

Go Behind the Scenes of a Porsche Photo Shoot with PorschePurist

Back in February, when we published the first part of this story (Behind the Scenes of a Porsche Photo Shoot Part 1), Brett Sloan was traveling extensively through Europe and the Middle East with renowned motorsport photographer Frank Kayser on assignment for Porsche. At the time, the nature of their shoot was confidential. Now that it’s completed, we can tell you that Frank was contracted by Porsche Motorsport to create and capture all the images that would be used in the current Motorsport catalog world-wide.

Originally, Brett was along as an assistant to Frank. However, as Frank was exposed to more of Brett’s talent behind the camera (and his post production capabilities) Brett’s role grew. In fact, Frank felt that Brett would be perfect to capture what it takes to put together a photo-shoot of this size and scope and create a promotional video for Frank in the process. The finished product is below and while it is definitely “promotional” in nature, it’s interesting to see the number of people and process that go into putting together a photo shoot for a national campaign by Porsche.

Brett just returned from the Nurburgring where he once again was behind the scenes and in the pits with Porsche Motorsports during the Nurburgring 24 hours.

5 Ways to Use Your Porsche You May Not Have Thought About

You may remember Mike Holtzclaw from our coverage of the PCA Parade last year. Mike’s the guy we interviewed about his 10,000 mile round-trip drive to Parade from Alaska. Mike’s story, and his 911 wrapped in tape, caught the attention of more than just PorschePurist. He’s now one of five people featured in a 30 minute documentary on Speed that originally aired on June 11th. In the event you missed it, the show will re-air this Sunday, June 19th on SPEED at 12:30 pm EST and 9:30 pm PST. The trailer below will give you some idea of what to expect (if you’re viewing this post via email and you can’t see the video, simply click on the Porsche Performance Everyday to view the video directly on our site).

While the full 30 minute show is basically a big advertisement for Porsche’s ongoing marketing campaign of “Porsche Everyday”, it is well done, a great mix of stories from celebrities and long-time Porsche guys like Mike Holtzclaw and worth a watch. So, mark your calendar and set your DVR if you’re not around at broadcast time.

Jamiroquai’s new album “Rock Dust Light Star” hit stores this week on November 1st. Even better, their newest video from the single ‘White Knuckle Ride’ features Jamiroquai front man Jay Kay and his ’73 911 (check out the second video below to see the rest of Jay Kay’s collection. It’s pretty impressive). Depending on your taste you may not like the music (we love it!) but there’s no way you won’t like the video. Enjoy!

What do all these Porsche videos have in common?

No, it’s not the fact that they feature Porsche. That would be too easy. Seriously, do you know? No? Well, you should. You see, any of these various Porsche videos, like “Countdown to Motion: Porsche 918 Sypder Hybrid Drives“, or “Porsche at the 2010 12 Hours of Sebring“, or “Porsche Legacy at the Daytona 24 Hour“, or “2010 Porsche GT3 RS Autobahn Shakedown – Frankfurt” or, well, you get the idea. All these videos have one common denominator. TangentVector.

What’s a TangentVector

Actually, the right question is, Who is TangentVector? According to their web-site, “TangentVector is a company rooted in the value of applying best-in-breed technology to overcome the barriers in communicating stories to the Web 3.0 audience.” In other words, this team of highly talented friends and technology professionals create righteous Porsche goodness in the form of HD videos that spin virally out of control when ever possible.

We had the pleasure of meeting J.F. Musial (“Master Creative Genius” at TangentVector) for the first time last year at the 12 Hours of Sebring (he was filming Hurley Haywood’s induction into the Hall of Fame). Like us, he loves all things automotive and shares a particular passion for Porsche.

Fortunately, we hit it off and J.F. has kept us in the loop of his various exploits around the globe for Porsche. He and his team stormed onto the automotive video scene a little more than a year ago and are making a huge impact on Porsche’s on-line marketing campaign (at least in my eyes) and recently even had one of their videos showcased on TopGear. Not too shabby for a company put together by a group of friends a little more than 12+ months ago.

The Latest Porsche Video from Tangent Vector

While J.F.’s job is fun, it’s a lot of hard work too. He’s constantly running all over the world to various race circuits and Porsche events. He and his team can often be found working late into the night editing footage and putting together videos that need to make their way out to the viewing public as soon as possible.

Take this past week as an example. J.F. was forced to spend time filming all the beautiful models at Fashion Week in New York as they came, enjoyed and went from the Smartwater Model Lounge in chauffeur driven Porsche Panameras and Cayennes. To make matters worse, he actually had to film and interview a number of these top models for footage and “b” roll for the video (oh, the horrors) you just saw above.

As a Porsche fan, its been a bit frustrating over the last few years waiting for my favorite marque to get with the program and join the revolution, the social networking revolution that is. At times, it seems as if Porsche corporate moves at one of two speeds, slow or glacial. However, over the past few months something or someone has awakened the sleeping giant and they have actively and openly embraced the many outlets available on-line with which they can promote themselves. The latest endeavor, Porsche TV.

As part of the Porsche Channel on YouTube, the Official Porsche TV series takes various cars of today and yesterday and showcases their strengths both on and off the track. There are quite a few models to choose from and there should be something for everyone. My choice for today:
