If so, never fear. Porsche was kind enough to provide a video of the entire event for your viewing pleasure. We posted it to our facebook page and YouTube Channel earlier in the day, but in the event you missed it, we’ll paste it below for your review now. If for some reason you can’t see the video simply click on Video of Porsche’s Press Conference from the 2011 LA Auto show to view it on our site.
Rennsport ended a while ago now, but thankfully Porsche has kept it alive with pictures, videos and even more videos. Afterall, this was the biggest Rennsport ever and the images alone are worth the hype. If you weren’t one of the more than 32,000 plus spectators that saw the event live, don’t worry. Thanks to an agreement with SPEED TV, you can now see snippets of the event from Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca from the comfort of your couch.

One Hour Telecast
One hour, that’s it? Trying to cover Rennsport Reunion IV in one hour is like trying fit a Corvette LS1 engine into a Porsche 914. It can be done, but would you really want to? The broadcast is said to contain a mix of vintage racing, interviews with legendary Porsche drivers and the “spirit”that was present during the “magical weekend”that was Rennsport. Ok, that might be a reach, but I’m still looking forward to it…

Porsche’s press release today announced the “debut”of the new 911 Carrera on the American continent. However, savvy and loyal readers of PorschePurist.com know that the 2012 Porsche 911 (991 variant) already had it’s American unveiling at last month’s Rensport Reunion IV. Regardless of the exact wording, this will be the first mainstream opportunity for the general public to get up close and personal with the new 911. PorschePurist.com, however, will be driving the new 911 in Santa Barbara tomorrow and Wednesday (both on the track and on the road) and we’ll have pictures and our thoughts on it shortly there after.
Perhaps more importantly is the news that Porsche announced a “World Premier”of “a model boasting impressive performance and dynamic looks, exuding unadulterated driving pleasure”. That’s pure Porsche speak for you’ll have to wait and see what we do. Rumors abound on the internet as to what this new model may be. We’re quietly hoping it will be the redesigned Boxster. Unfortunately, it’s more than likely to be a drop top variant of the new 911 (not that this is a bad thing, just not as exciting).
For a long time now we’ve wanted to provide you with amazing imagery to us as the wallpaper on your desktop or laptop. Unfortunately, our pictures always look like they were taken by an arthritic old man with a bad case of the shakes. No more! With the addition of three different photographers to the PorschePurist family, we now plan on offering you a steady diet of images for your computer’s wallpaper. What better way to remind yourself of why you’re spending so much time in front of the computer than a beautiful shot of your favorite marque.
Today’s picture comes courtesy of PorschePurist photographer Brett Sloan. After 5 long days at Rennsport (Brett was there longer than most as part of his assignment while shooting with Frank Kayser for Porsche AG) Brett has finally finished combing through 1000s and 1000s of pictures. Click on the underlined link for a 1600 pixel version of the Porsche Wallpaper. Or, check out our facebook page for an even larger version (along with a two other selections). You’ll find them either on our wall or in our photo section on the left.
Ps. If any of you need technical help on how to set an image as your wallpaper let us know and maybe we’ll post a quick tutorial for you.
Derek Bell narrates a compilation of sorts from this past weekend’s events at Rennsport Reunion IV. Inclusive of short interviews with Jeff Zwart, Timo Bernhard, Wolf Henzler, Brian Redman, etc., this entertaining video captures the passion and commitment that goes into an event like Rennsport (listening to the various classic Porsche race by in the background is an added bonus).
With all the noise and news about Rennsport Reunion IV this past weekend some of you may have forgotten about the “other”Porsche event that took place just down the road;the Porsche Race Car Classic at the Quail Lodge in Carmel.
While PorschePurist.com didn’t attend this particular event, Sam Cabiglio did. Sam is well known in the Porsche world and perhaps best known as being Jerry Seinfeld’s go to “car guy”. Sam sent me the following video that presents a number of the historic and significant Porsches present at the gathering.
As it turns out, Sam’s son, Gianni, shot the video and has lots of other interesting content (including this extended video on the 918 RSR) on his YouTube channel. If you’re having any trouble viewing the video via email you can view it on our site at this link, The Porsche Race Car Classic Video.
Well, it’s all over. Three years of planning packed into three amazing days of all things Porsche. If anyone was worried this would be the last Rennsport, I think it’s safe to say those fears are unfounded. While Porsche won’t confirm anything for sure, the massive volume of people that attended Rennsport Reunion IV skew the odds greatly in favor of a Rennsport Reunion V. Laguna Seca completely sold out of pre-order tickets and it’s estimated that they sold at least 20,000 + tickets in total. That’s a HUGE turnout!
