As I was doing additional research for my ongoing series on the history of the Porsche 917 I came across the following series of videos. The end of the third video in this series, and most of the fourth, does a better job than I ever could in completing the history/documentation of the 917. The rest of the videos are here for your enjoyment. It’s quite a long series, but definitely worth the watch. You may want to bookmark this page and come back a few times as each video (and there are 10 of them) is nine to ten minutes long. Definitely worth the watch! If you only want to finish up the history of the 917, then the end of the third video and most of the fourth is for you. Otherwise, start at the beginning and enjoy.
I’m surprised at how much is still available to find on the internet. If you like these videos, please let me know. I will continue to scour and search and post up what I find. Thanks for looking and thanks in advance for the feedback.
Thanks so much for posting these videos,I also search the net for any and all Porsche info.Who was the maker of these films?I greatly enjoyed all of them.I even got some authenticity info for my own cars.Would you have any footage of the ultralight bergspyder? The Targa florio winning 908? Those are two of my favorite cars.I wish we had more point to point ,public road and hillclimb motorsport here in the states as I prefer to drive fast on “poor”roads.

I’m not 100% sure who made these films, but I will search through my notes and find out if possible.
I have so much video footage that I have not yet cataloged. Keep posted for more videos in the near future and if I find your specific requests I’ll send you a link sooner vs. later.
Thanks for all you do. Unfortunately for those of us in rural areas, downloading large files is problematic. You might consider creating and selling a collage of Porsche racing cars on a DVD. I would be the first ot order one….

Keep going! I will enjoy anything and everything particularly, about the early years. Is there a way to download these flicks so I can watch them at my chosen time……..assuming they will not be on your website forever.

Glad you enjoyed them. There is no way to download them that I’m aware of. You can, however, do a screen grab. You would need some software like “VideoCacheView” that you can get for free here http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/video_cache_view.html
You would also need some type of FLV to WMV converter. The link above explains that too. It’s actually quite easy if you just follow the directions and a great way to capture images and video to save for your personal use.
