Anyway, there has been much debate on this subject over the years and I've yet to see a definitive argument for either changing the oil before storage or after. At the end of the day, it seems to be about personal choice. As our 993 is oil/air cooled, we change the oil once per season (even though we put fewer miles on it then your Boxster). In the past we chose to change our oil in the fall as that was when we were doing our final cleaning and preparing for storage. Over time, we decided to do our oil changes as part of our spring start-up procedure. This way, our old/used oil sat over the winter and any possible condensation was cleaned/dumped when we did our change in the spring.Enjoy your Porsche!!!I'm not su

Hi, Bruce,

We just put one of our Porsches away for the winter today (our 993, the namesake for this site). If you click on the link for the battery tender, you'll see a "jr" version. It's fairly inexpensive and should work just as well!!!

@Andrew,

Good catch and yes that is what I meant. I need to find a good deal on one of those battery tenders though.

In step number five you mention that “…with the 996, Porsche gave us their first production, water cooled motor.” I know you’re just referring to 911s in general, and not their entire lineup

Great article, I’m planning to do something similar to my 128i while my 944 boldly braves the winter months!
